All the key stats and facts behind Durban City’s run to the final of the 2026 Nedbank Cup, where they will face TS Galaxy at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on May 2 (kick-off 18h00).
Most minutes
450 – Goalkeeper Darren Keet and defender Siphamandla Ncanana are the only two players to have featured in every minute for Durban City so far in the 2026 Nedbank Cup campaign. Behind them are midfielder Brooklyn Poggenpoel (399 minutes) and left-back Terrence Mashego (347 minutes). They are the only players to have started every match for the club in their run to the final.
Top scorer
1 – Durban City have only needed two goals to reach the final, and one was an own goal by Casric Stars’ Sphamandla Mlilo in the semi-finals. The only City player to find the back of the net is Fezile Gcaba, who scored in the 1-1 draw with Lamontville Golden Arrows in the quarter-finals. City did not score against Chippa United (Last 32) or Upington City (Last 16), but advanced through those ties on penalties.
Most substitute appearances
4 – Midfielder Luphumlo Sifumba has come off the bench in all four of Durban City’s ties so far. The 20-year-old is in his first season at the club after arriving from Cape Town City. It has been a pattern in the league too: he has made 13 appearances for the Durban side in all competitions and 12 of them have been off the bench.
Oldest and youngest players used
36 – Goalkeeper Keet has been the oldest player to feature for Durban City, and the 36-year-old has played a huge part in their campaign, winning three penalty shoot-outs, keeping three clean sheets and showing his experience in marshalling the backline. The oldest outfield player is Namibia international Joslin Kamatuka, who is 34.
20 – Luphumlo Sifumba is the youngest player that Durban City have used in this season’s Nedbank Cup. The 20-year-old was just 16 when he first appeared in the matchday squad of a professional team, for Cape Town City against Kaizer Chiefs in February 2022.
Team goals scored
2 – Durban City have managed only two goals on their way to the 2026 Nedbank Cup final, the lowest number by a finalist in the competition’s history.
Team goals conceded
1 – Durban City have only conceded a single goal in that time too, making it three goals at either end in four games. The only player to score against them is Golden Arrows’ Thokozani Khumalo in their 1-1 quarter-final draw.
Disciplinary
13 yellows – Durban City have received 13 yellow cards in their four Nedbank Cup ties this season, though to be fair three of those went to extra time, so they have played more than 90 minutes extra, the equivalent of another whole fixture.
